IN MEMORIAM

Katharine Fraser Reid

December 12, 1919 – October 26, 2015

Our dear friend Katharine Reid joined the Church Triumphant on October 26, 2015. She had been a member of our First Presbyterian Church family since December 2, 1951. Our deepest sympathy is extended to her family and friends.

Obituary:

Katharine Fraser Reid, 95, passed away peacefully on, Monday, October 26, 2015 surrounded by her family at King’s Grant Retirement Community. She was born on December 12, 1919 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Josephine Lightburne Fraser and William Percy Fraser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Emmett Reid, Jr. 

Katharine was a member of the Patrick Henry Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution and President of the Du Mart Garden Club in the 1960s. She has been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Martinsville, VA as well as in New Bern, North Carolina.

Surviving are her daughters, Katharine Joanne Kamminga of Burke, VA and Jeanne Reid Baker of Apex, NC; and sons, Robert William Reid of Roanoke, VA, and Jackson Kenneth Reid of Ridgeway, VA; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Victory Chapel at King’s Grant Retirement Community in Martinsville, VA with Chaplain Paul Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
