Stated Meeting, August 29, 2016

• The meeting opened with prayer led by Mark Hinchcliff. Monica Stevens led the group in a devotional using the book Being Disciples of Jesus in a Dot.Com World, a book to be used with the participants in the confirmation class that will begin in October.  
• Bill Kirby and Mark Hinchcliff attended the meeting of presbytery August 20.
• Cindy Edgerton, chair, reported that names will be in place for the election of three session members and two trustees at the Congregational Annual Meeting September 25.
• Mark Hinchcliff has met with a Veteran’s Organization Committee to plan a Veteran’s Day event November 11 and with the Uptown Business Association to plan for La Posada on December 2 in Uptown Martinsville.
• Mark Hinchcliff has been elected as a member of the presbytery’s Committee on Administration.
• A Rally Day Breakfast will be September 11.
• Approval was given to honor Mark’s request for vacation a few days the week of September 12 and October 17-22. He will preach September 18.  October 23 is Laity Sunday.  
• One service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Christmas Day with the office closed December 23 and December 26.  
• There will be one service at 11:00 a.m. January 1, 2017 with the office closed January 2, 2017.
• The meeting ended at 9:30 with prayer led by Mark Hinchcliff.
