First Presbyterian Church members provide a unique mission to our community through the Early Learning Intervention (ELI) preschool program.   It is designed to teach basic skills to at-risk children of the community through the loving minds and hands of church volunteers. For nearly 15 years church members have provided free transportation to the childen of this class, which is coordinated by teacher JoAnne Sanders.  A task force, headed by Janet Fentress, oversees the program.   Young children attend half-day classes three days a week, receiving  spiritual and physical nourishment. 

Volunteers are needed for the program as drivers of the church van and as assistants to the classroom teacher.   Ordinarily, volunteers are requested to serve for several hours just one day of the month.  Please leave your name with Sarah Altizer at the church office (632-3431) if you are interested in serving.
